Your First Visit

Upon entering our office, you will be welcome as a member of our family.  Your health is our priority. We will request that you complete our patient forms, given to you at our office or easily printed from our website. This paperwork provides us with your health history and information on your condition.

Consultation:
Next, you will have a consultation with either Dr. Aaron or Dr. Kurt to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This initial visit is designed for the doctors to learn more about you, your condition, and expectations to determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.

Examination:
After your consultation, your doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and biomechanical/physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

X-Ray:
It's a common miss-conception that seeing a chiropractor requires you to get X-rayed. Not all conditions require you to have x-rays. Depending on your presentation, exam findings and specific condition, we may refer, or consult your regular MD for X-rays. Active Wellness Chiropractic & Rehabilitation does not have X-ray onsite.   After receiving and studying your X-rays the doctors will discuss and develop the most effective treatment plan with you.

Report of Findings:
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, your doctor will give you a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:

  1. How can you help me?
  2. How often do I need to come in?
  3. What will my treatment cost?

After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine and X-rays (if needed), your doctor will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition  requires care with other providers.

The report of findings is generally given at your second appointment, usually 24-48 hours after your first visit.

Treatment:
Depending on your condition and physical presentation; at the conclusion of your appointment, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physiotherapy, or other ancillary procedures.  Your treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.  Depending on your condition your first treatment may take place at your second visit.  If this is the case your second visit is generally within 24 hours of your first appointment.  This allows sufficient time for your doctor to fully review your condition and formulate a treatment plan specific to your personal needs.

At home care:
Prior to leaving, your doctor may suggest supplementary at home rehabilitation to incorporate and aid your chiropractic adjustments.  These supplementary recommendations will speed up the healing process. These may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, postural corrections and at home exercises and/or stretches.   If you desire, our wellness team will also work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.  Every person is unique; therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan.  The purpose of our wellness program is for   you to achieve good spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state, and maximize your living potential.
