About Dr. Van Veldhuizen
Dr. Kurt Van Veldhuizen was born in Sheldon, Iowa, June of 1983. He lived in northwest Iowa until he graduated from Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High in the spring of 2001. In high school he enjoyed playing football, running in track, and participating in the art program. Upon graduation he moved to Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he studied Biology (pre-medical major) and religion/philosophy as a minor, he graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in the winter of 2005 with a B.A. in Science. At UNI he met his wife Melissa and was married in the spring of 2004.
After completion of his undergraduate degree he enrolled in the Doctorate of Chiropractic program at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa. At Palmer he studied the medical sciences, the chiropractic arts, and specialized as an intern in the Palmer Rehabilitation Clinic in addition to serving in the Palmer Health Clinic as an intern and assistant to the Clinics Director of Operations and Finance. Dr. Kurt graduated from Palmer with honors in June of 2009. He is currently practicing in Johnston, Iowa with his partner Dr. Aaron Rector. Their clinic, Active Wellness Chiropractic and Rehabilitation is located on Windsor Parkway one block west of 86th St.
When Dr. Kurt isn't helping patients, furthering his education, or building his practice he is out in the community helping others or reading, hunting, fishing, or spending time with his family which includes his wife and their dog Dexter. Dr. Kurt's wife Melissa is presently employed as an RN at Wesley Edgewater in West Des Moines. They currently live in Windsor Heights, and if you see them out and about stop and say "Hi" -- they enjoy nothing more than meeting new people.
